Death Road, La Paz, Bolivia

Death Road was certainly a highlight of Bolivia. Death Road gained its name by being the most dangerous road in the world. At points it is a 600 meter sheer cliff face where it barely looks wide enough for one car to drive on let alone two. Anyway had to check it out and it was a very impressive road to say the least. We mountain biked down the road which started at 5,000m and dropped off to 1300m. Was an awesome bike ride dodging a few vehicles along the way and the drive back up it was almost as much of a thrill as well.
Gearing up at 5000 m.a.s.l. for our 3700m decent.
One of the many steep winding corners we had to deal with. All just added to the thrill and at least the waterfall at the bottom of this one wasn't falling on top of you.
Me in my kit standing with the road winding in the back ground.
Standing on the edge of part of death road. Was an impressive drop.

At the end of Death Road we visited an animal sanctuary where all the animals living there had been taken from people who had used them as pick pocketers and to make money in general. This little bugger is reaching out to steal my camera straight out of my hands.
